I write stories
that inform, entertain,
and inspire.

My name is Destiny Torres, and I am a multimedia journalist from Southern California.

Today, I am a full-time reporter at the Orange County Register covering local county government and the city of Santa Ana.

I previously worked at the L.A. Business Journal where I covered all things tech. I have also freelanced for publications covering arts and culture, education, and breaking news. For the LA School Report, I reported on L.A. Unified issues, and at Remezcla, I wrote articles about Latinx music news.

I earned my journalism master's degree in 2022 from USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. At USC Annenberg, I was a multimedia reporter for the student-run outlet Annenberg Media covering student news and worked for Dímelo, the Latinx-focused news desk.

I graduated with my bachelor's degree in journalism in 2020 from CSU Dominguez Hills where I worked as an editor at the student-run newspaper, The Bulletin.

I enjoy writing articles that tell impactful stories, highlight community members, and represent diverse cultures. I hope to use my writing as a tool not to be "a voice for the voiceless," but to act as a mic to help otherwise ignored communities tell their stories.
